eXplore (4U2) is a Christian international student group. We want to put our faith to practice by showing hospitality to foreign students. We organize activities for foreign students, for you too!

eXplore (4U2) helps you feel at home

You are a student (exchange, regular or PhD etc.), or you still sometimes feel yourself a student. You came to Holland from another country. Maybe, even from a totally different part of the world. You left your familiar environment behind.

And now you are in Eindhoven, looking for new contacts, practical tips and places to go and just have a good time. Then, eXplore (4U2) is there: for you too. To help you feel at home.

You are welcome to visit eXplore (4U2). Please feel free to tell your friends about us and bring them along to eXplore (4U2).

We are a partnership of students and locals desiring to be of help and service to you. Our desire is, that you feel more at home in Eindhoven.

Talk at 4U2

eXplore (4U2) is part of a Christian international student organization IFES which is active in more than 140 countries. So the eXplore (4U2)-team has a Christian background, but you don't need to be a Christian to be welcome at the eXplore (4U2)-activities. Students with various backgrounds and religions (or no religion) meet at eXplore (4U2), because eXplore (4U2) is there for all of them.

Social evenings

Once a month we organize a social evening. Sometimes just for eating together, fellowship and talk. At other times, there may be a speaker, or a theme, for instance, a country. Then, we get to hear about this country and enjoy its food! Entry & food gratis(=free)

Are you interested in getting to know the Dutch culture better? We can put you in touch with a Dutch family. The idea is that you visit them on a regular basis. It's a nice way to get to know Dutch people and their sometimes "strange" habits.

  LANGUAGE

Up to contents Literature Reading Club

Do you like reading good fiction? Every now and then a book comes out that is worthwhile to share with others and to discuss. The literature club gathers about 4 times a year. Condition is that you read the book – that is agreed on – beforehand. The evenings are held at Aart and Marja’s. Previous titles: ‘The life of Pi’, Yann Martel; ‘The Da Vinci Code’, Dan Brown; Reading Lolita in Tehran, Azar Nafisi. Feel most welcome to join!

Once in a while we go to the cinema to watch a movie that is "hot". Afterwards we usually go for a drink in the centre of Eindhoven. The main goal is to have fun and nice chats with each other. Starting a discussion on the movie depends on whether we are in the mood for it or not.

Easy Dutch language

For those who want to learn the basics of Dutch language and who are interested in getting to know the major stories of the bible. For this purpose we use the so called ‘Kijkbijbel’, a famous children’s bible with beautiful pictures. The course comes with a CD, recorded by a native Dutch speaker, to enable you to perfect your pronunciations, listening and speaking skills.

Alpha Course

Another discovery course, that goes deeper, is the Alpha Course. Alpha is a 10-week exploration of the Christian faith developed by the Rev. Nicky Gumbel of Holy Trinity Brompton, an Anglican Church in London, England. Over a million people have attended an Alpha Course in the United States and Canada, and there are 24,078 Alpha courses running in 133 different countries. An estimated four million people from across the world have completed the Alpha course. Resources are available in 46 languages including Braille.

Face to face

This group is meant both for Christian and Muslim students. We discuss essential parts of the Scriptures: what do we have in common, what are the differences between the Bible and the Koran? Goal is to get to know each other and each other’s religion better. We use therefore the book of Chawkat Moucarry, ‘Faith to Faith’. We meet on a regular basis.

We sometimes organize trips to interesting or "typical Dutch" places like the big WaterWorks, a replica of Noahs' ark, the replica of a 17th century VOC sailing vessel or Eindhoven itself.

Easter weekend 2008

Easter Conference 2007The 7th IFES-BIS Easter Weekend was held the 22nd-23rd of March in Helvoirt (near s-Hertogenbosch). It's a national event and meant for international students, PhD, post-docs, young professionals etc. all over the country.
